BIMM is a teaching institution dedicated to supporting and nurturing the budding careers of young musicians and music professionals.
BIMM Universities are only placed in the most thriving cities for music across the UK, Ireland and Germany with BIMM Birmingham being the most recent addition. This gives each and every young talent who passes through their doors the opportunity to start their careers in places that will shape them into more successful artists. The BIMM Summer Festival will not only be an exciting end to the University year in Birmingham, but is also a great way to start musical festival season in the UK’s second city.
BIMM alumni boast huge success stories – with famous names such as James Bay, Ella Mai and George Ezra all being graduated talent from BIMM, it shows that this institution knows how to start and look after the careers of aspiring stars.
Knowing that these big alumni names got their start by performing with BIMM, it is more than likely that the next big star could be performing at BIMM’s Summer Festival this year, who would want to miss out on that?
Harry Charlton is currently studying professional musicianship at BIMM Birmingham and knows the value of working within such a career driven university: “Without the support from BIMM, me and my band would never get the chance to play established venues such as ‘Asylum’, playing shows like the BIMM Summer Festival gives us experience playing to large crowds which is just a dream for any musician.”
BIMM’s Summer Festival will be held at the Asylum music venue in Birmingham and promises to be the perfect night to bring in the summer season, ‘The night will be packed full of fantastic music, palm trees and beach balls’, tells the Asylum website, ‘as we kick off the Summer in style! Embrace those glitter beards and dig out your flower headbands!’.
The required age of entry to BIMM’s Summer Festival is 16+, with doors opening at 6.30pm. If you wish to carry on the party (and you’re old enough) there is an 18+ after party at ‘Asylum 2’ featuring a selection of BIMM DJ’s and producers starting at 10.30.
This event will be fun for all – music lovers, musicians and industry professionals alike. With the stars of the inaugural BIMM Summer Festival made up of fresh musical talent from across the city, this one night will be a valuable networking opportunity for Birmingham’s music professionals as well as aspiring music professionals.
Antony Greaves, principle at BIMM Birmingham, explains: “The BIMM Birmingham Summer Festival is an opportunity for students to showcase themselves to the music industry, friends, family and the wider public at a free to attend event, as well as being a great way to celebrate the end of a year’s hard work.”
