Club Soccer – It’s Not Time To Relax

‘It’s Not Time To Relax’ is the sophomore single from Club Soccer, a South American duo of Argentinian Nico Brunstein and Brazilian born Nando Dale who are both students at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. Maybe they are called club soccer to avoid arguments when the Albiceleste and Selecao play!

There’s an irony in how relaxing ‘It’s Not Time To Relax’ is. It’s a lo-fi indie pop/lounge pop number that reminds musically of the sadly departed Her’s, who along with their tour manager were tragically killed in a car crash earlier this year. There is also elements musically of ‘Since I Left You’ by The Avalanches and a 60’s vibe.

The song is beautifully melancholic. Dale’s vocals are downbeat and slow paced. The guitars are restrained and the bass line funky. It’s a really perfect song for a lazy day, even if the song does close with a sudden ominous feel.
